Red Red Rose

Monday, July 5th, 2021

Now this is some song… Originally a poem by Scottish poet, Robert Burns… and turned to song by many over the years. This is my own adaption of the song. I like the romantic Scottish nature of this song. The lyrics are really something else… this man will love this woman until the rocks melt wi’ the sun, i.e. forever. Truly brilliant. Enjoy!

Dream Catch Me

Arguably Newton Faulkner’s most famous/recognisable song and for good reason. Great harmony, melody, lyrics & dynamics. This was a little tricky to play and sing but as ever, had a bash for fun.

Tornado of Souls (Solo)

Monday, July 5th, 2021

I was struck by this tune after not having heard it for some time. The solo is exceptional. I did plan on doing a “proper” video of this but I got in from home one night and this was a half-decent take (not perfect, by any means… but it captures the spirit) and so, lazily… I just uploaded it. Not bad for playing acoustic 99% of the time these days.

Tae the Weavers Gin Ye Go!

Monday, July 5th, 2021

This is a very upbeat Celtic tune which I transcribed (difficult as is very chordal and couldn’t find any music online).

It was great to get a break from fingerstyle – more strummers, required!

Played on my Avalon acoustic.
